Carlsbad Caverns National Park provides full moon walks during which rangers answer questions about the area's nocturnal animals, local legends, and astronomy. In late summer phrazle and early autumn, it's also a fantastic area to see bats in the caves. However, novice campers should be aware that only backcountry camping is permitted, and all campers are required to get a permit.
